The believing man now gives his people two clear reasons to follow the messengers: they have themselves found the right path, and they seek no payment or personal advantage for guiding others.
These two qualities matter together. A person who does not know the way cannot be a trustworthy guide, while someone who uses the truth as a means to obtain wealth, power or personal prestige may bend it to serve private interests. The messengers neither lead people astray nor seek to profit from their invitation.
The man's appeal is therefore not a demand for blind obedience. He asks the people to consider both the truth of the message and the integrity of those who bring it. Their invitation has value because they convey the truth for the people's well-being, without asking for anything in return.
