Surah Ya-Sin / Verse 24

إِنِّي إِذًا لَّفِي ضَلَالٍ مُّبِينٍ

Then I would surely be in manifest error

The believing man now states the conclusion of his argument plainly. If he chose objects of worship besides the one Creator, even though they had no independent power over his welfare or harm, he would be clearly misguided.

What deserves attention is that he first directs this judgement at his own possible choice, rather than simply condemning other people.

Truth is the standard by which he knows that he, too, must be judged. His words are therefore more than a reproach aimed at others: they invite each listener to consider whether their own belief and path are sound.
